Pacific Wildlife Research Centre - Ladner, BC
  (Environment Canada)
Completed an Investigation and assessment of the malfunctioned Onsite Wastewater Treatment System. Presented rational for failure of the existing system and provided an innovative solution for mitigation of the problem by using a portion of the existing infrastructure. This resulted in significant cost savings to the client.

J's Flood Hope Husky - Hope, BC
Completed a design of a new onsite wastewater treatment system and disposal field to service a busy 24-hour truck stop diner convenience store and gas station in Hope. The new system replaced a malfunctioning existing system and created peace of mind for the owner/operator. The system was designed for a peak flow rate of 21,000 Lpd.

Royalwood Golf Course - Sardis BC
Conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment for the discharge of 23,000 litres per day of treated effluent to a subsurface disposal field. The design considered subsurface groundwater mounding and effluent travel time to down gradient receptors. Prepared construction drawings detailing the treatment works and forced discharge system which consisted of 750 lineal meters of pressurised effluent distribution piping.

City of Surrey - Surrey BC
Design of a subsurface disposal field to receive 15,000 litres per day of filter backwash water for the Port Kells swimming pool.

City of Surrey - Croyden Ave Diversion
Provided technical expertise on whether the expropriation of a portion of an existing parcel would jeopardize the parcel\'s ability to support an on-site sewage disposal system.

Pacific Coast Golf Center - Richmond BC
Design of a subsurface pressure distribution disposal field to receive a 20,000 litres per day effluent discharge.

Peter Kiewit Sons Company - North Harrison Lake Construction Camp
Arden Consulting Engineers Ltd. was retained by Peter Kiewit Sons to design a sewer collection system, wastewater treatment plant and septic field to service a remote 200 man construction camp. The system was designed for a flow rate of 45,000 L per day. Services included design, regulatory liaison, construction supervison and commissioning of the treatment works. Given the sensitivity of the local environment it was essential that the system was designed to meet and exceed the discharge standards as prescribed in the Municipal Sewage Regulation.

Water Treatment Systems

Lillooet Lake Estates - Lillooet Lake, BC
Lillooet Lake, BC. Provided Engineering services to the strata council of Lillooet Lake Estates with respect to planning, development and design of a new water distribution and treatment system to replace an aged non-conforming system. The new system includes an intake structure from an underground spring, an upper and lower water storage reservoir, each of 55m3 capacity, and a pumping station to service the upper reservoir. Treatment of the water was provided by chlorination and UV light. The system services 152 existing lots. Detailed construction drawings were prepared and submitted to the Regional Public Health Engineer for approval and to obtain Waterworks Construction Permit.

Peter Kiewit Sons - North Harrison Lake
Arden Consulting Engineers Ltd. were retained to develop water supply, water treatment system and infrastructure to support their 200 man construction camp, office buildings and dining hall. The water supply system included the completion of an 8\" diameter, 70 foot deep drilled well producing 50 US gpm. The treatment system included four 5,000 Igal water reservoirs, 1 micron filtration and disinfection using Ultra Violet Lamps. The treated water was supplied to 375m of 4\" diameter C-900 water main using duplex 3 hp booster pumps capable of supplying a peak demand of 130 US gpm at 50 psi. Fire protection was provided with a 15 hp centrifugal pump capable of producing 400 US gpm at 40 psi.

GVRD- White Pine Beach Water Supply System
Arden Consulting Engineers were retained by GVRD Parks to study alternatives for water supply to meet peak summer time demand at White Pine Beach Park. The study included an assessment of two different options for extracting water from Sasamat Lake and using it for toilet flushing to supplement two low yield drilled wells as well as included calculation of peak daily and hourly demand. Capital costs for both options were presented in a report to GVRD. The option selected included the design of a water intake structure positioned at the bottom of Sasamat Lake along with a filtration system and UV disinfection to meet the requirements of the Drinking Water Protection Act. The design also included a duplex pumping station system, pneumatic storage tanks and new 75mm HDPE water supply main.

Water Treatment Systems

  Coquihalla Toll Plaza
ACE along with Tri-City Contracting Ltd. were recently awarded a design build contract for expansion of the existing washroom facilities and upgrade to the sewage disposal and water supply systems servicing the washrooms at the Coquihalla Toll Plaza. Our innovative concept involved treating the wastewater to a standard such that it could be reclaimed and used as non-potable water to flush toilets and urinals. This approach drastically reduced the size of the disposal field required and the complexities associated with discharging large quantities of wastewater into a mountainous region with less than favourable subsurface conditions, as well numerous groundwater seeps and wet areas. Further, our proposal eliminated the need to drill additional water wells and construct water storage facilities as would have previously been required to ensure adequate water supply.
